His legacy will be fine. If I remember right when Montana was traded to KC he played pretty well, even took them to the playoffs. Unitas and Namith are different storys, both of those guys were just too old and had nothing left in the tank. Brett showed last year he still has a little magic left in him.

Say what you want about him, selfish, egomaniac etc. but the guy is one tough stubbron SOB. Everytime somebody says something about him being too old, too injured too wild he proves them wrong. Look for Brett and the Jets to have a good year.

Now on the OTOH I really feel sorry for  Aaron Rodgers. The behavior of a lot of so called Packer fans has been awful. From what I've been hearing the the poor guy is being booed all the time at training camp. During the intersquad scrimage Saturday night some fans were booing him and chanting "we want Brett" These so called fans make me sick, with any luck they will follow Brett to New York. A Rod has done nothing to deserve the way he is being treated. Only two people should carry the blame for this mess and its Favre and Ted Thompson. Thompson is an ego maniac that wants his boy Rodgers to be the guy. Favre could have been the bigger man, reported to camp and forced TTs hand by competing for the job. But like TT he is in egomaniac and couldnt stand the fact they he would have to compete for his job that he thinks is his. This whole situation has made me sick and I'm glad its over :furious

I wonder if Thompson has any dogs???? Packer fans know what I"m talking about :devil

For a lot of Packer fans this has been one sour teet.  When I was at the Packer Family Night, I'd say it was a 50/50 split.  When Rodgers came out there were boos, but i'd say 90-95% cheers.  Personally, I think Rodgers will be a bust as shown by his poor passes/scrambling in the scrimmage.  But I won't boo or heckle unless it is justified.  Rodgers hasn't done anything close to warrant that....yet :p

But my faith in McCarthy has been wavering...his mono-tone speeches make me wonder if he can actually yell at a player.

Tom Osborne always talked in a monotone to the press. Apparently, guys who played for him said he could scream and yell with the best of them.

I'm hoping for at least the second coming of Lynn Dickey. But I have a bad feeling we are getting Randy Wright with a stronger arm. Rodgers is a system QB, he will move the offense as long he's not under to much pressure. But if the defense can get to him then he will fold like a lawnchair, I doubt we will see him do anything spectacular like Favre did when he was under pressure. The days of seeing a GB QB throw a 10 yard shovel pass while falling down are over.

Even Randy Wright had a few good throws :uhoh (Yes I have even seen Wright play live I've been around that long  )

Yep me too. The bad ole days when they sucked and you could get tickets without taking out a mortgage to see them play at County Stadium. I was just a kid but but I went to a lot of games with my Dad, he had the Milwaukee ticktet package.

Looks like Favre ran off Chad Pennington.

I liked Chad (Being from Marshall U) but I always felt he was always the reason the Jets sucked.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

He doesn't want the money, he has the money, he just wants to play the sport he loves.

IIRC, my NFC championship game tickets ran about $500.  Of course I bought them 3 days before the game.  That was for row 50 something in section 108 (corner endzone).  That was the first time I ever saw Favre play in person since the last Packer game I was at was a year or so before Favre played.  As heartbreaking and f'in cold as that game was...it was the chance of a lifetime.

Im not a packers fan.Im a Cowboys fan but I always loved to see Farve play cause he acted like a little kid every time he played. Not many left in the sport that just loved the sport and were happy to be a part of it.What Farve did wrong was turn his retirement into a soap opera.he shoulda went straight to a network and became a sports announcer color commentator. He woulda rocked in that role.Better if he had retired a packer.

Bad call by the Jets..or ANY team.
Why would you be willing to part with a draft pick...ANY draft pick.
If the guy you traded for cant make up his mind from one year to the next if he wants to play anymore or not?
Unless you really have a shot of Winning the superbowl THAT year.
and the Jets havent shown much to indicate that.

Then again.. the way the Jets traditionally draft.
Maybe hey couldnt loose.

The first time I saw Brett play was against the Cowboys at Texas Stadium. I'm pretty sure it was a wildcard playoff game. He threw a Hail Mary 80 yards (80 freakin yards in the air) that was dropped. Never before and never again have I seen a QB throw a ball that far in person.

I still think he won't last the season with the Jets. If he goes 5 games uninjured he's gonna be lucky.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

:rofl
thats funny.

I dont think this whole business with Farve and the Packers was so bad, they just didnt handle it very well.  I can sorta understand Brett's position though.   He thought he wanted to retire, he thought he was tried of the game, only to realize he missed it and wanted back in, or he could have just been unsure what he wanted to do next.   I can relate some, very similar to when I retired from the Air Force after 20 years.  For 20 years that was my life, and when retirement came I was happy and looking forward to doing something different, new experiences and all that rot.   6 months later I was missing it and wished I had stayed, and 10 years later I still miss it
