Possible Solution to Unbalanced MA
« on: May 23, 2001, 11:07:00 PM »
After logging on to the 2 to 1 outnumbered ratio only got 2 bases left nights for the past month, I believe I have come up with a possible solution for this problem.

As you all well know when you get down to your last couple of bases it can sometimes take hours to be reset, as poeple fight valiantly to save these bases. For many poeple though they are just logging off when they see this situation. What I suggest is this. Give the losing country an opportunity to surrender! It could be handled somewhat like controlling the CV. The highest ranking member of the enemy country could propose to the other team a surrender. A message would pop up on everyone in that country's screen much like the message when someone tries to join you as a gunner. It would ask you if you want to surrender Yes/No. Then if a certain percentage say 2/3 of your countrymen agree the map resets. There would need to be a time limit say maybe 1 hour or every half hour that this could be done, otherwise it could be abused and you could be barraged by "Do you want to surrender?" messages.

This could actually be a little more realistic as in any war the losing country usually surrenders before they are completely destroyed. What we have right now is more of a "Scorched Earth" policy.

Anyway, this is my 2 cents. Let me know what you think. Personally I think this could be good for the poeple and HTC as the new guys won't be turned off by being in the hole all the time.

It might depend upon the psychology at work in the MA.  Do people join to get on the winning side, to support the loosing side from being beaten or from country loyality?

I like your idea!  Although a few people enjoy it, having almost no fields that aren't being vulched is probably a pain to most people.  I would suggest also considering lowering the vote requirement to 51% and not requiring a "lead" player to propose surrender.  Just make a "Setup" option of "Surrender: yes [] or no []" and reset everyone to "no" after resets and logins.

What if team that was ahead had to own 80% of the total bases to force reset even if other 2 teams had more than 3-4 bases.Would this make the two with less bases work together and end the two team gangbang on the smallest.
