Scoring 1.05
« on: December 19, 2000, 12:51:00 AM »
Hello,

Just checked the news about 1.05 scoring and wanted to make couple of remarks.

1. score/sortie would be nice even if it's easy to calculate yourself. Think that would work nicely at least for fighter sorties.

2. some sort of multiplier for kill streak so that each succesfull kill add the multiplier you can get for the next kill. That to balance "land my kill" stuff.

3. perk multiplier could be added to scores as well (not sure about that).

What I'm trying to say is (if you care about scores at all?) that we'd get one easy indication how's one doing in the arena.

I don't think the current or 1.05 scoring does that.

Yo jj ;=)
Read and reread the new scoring system. Its a major dissapointment from the view of stat fixated fighter nerds ;=)
The one positive thing is that we get to define beforehand if sortie shall count as air or ground. That opens up for dedicated jaboing.

A new category witch could have been interesting has elegantly been coupled with jaboing as well: Air points.Defined as = PlaneDamageScore + KillScore we find KillScore defined as = ((AirKillsThisSortie * 1.0) + (AirAssistsThisSortie * 0.25) +
(GroundKillsThisSortie * 1.0) + (GroundAssistsThisSortie * 0.25) * DeathMult) +
TotalTourKillScore. As such its pure air to air value decreases drastically.

Other than that it seems to be nothing but cosmetics applied to the new features of 1.05.

I sorly miss streak score and breakdown of all scores in plane categories (109, p51 ect).
These scores, and several others, have been wished earlier on several occations.Sure you cannot please everybody, and so be it.But this indicates that HTC simply is not *interested* in developing the score stats.

IMO only slightly better than the old score system, and certanly not good enough.

K/D will still be the only valuable stat for fighter nerds.

If the perk points earned go up for each landed sortie, it would surely help to limit the number of suicide pilots out there who run headlong into a fight just to get killed, but maybe rack up a few perks in the process.

So it would be nice if you got (for argument sake) 5 (or some number) additional perk points for succesfully landing your kills. That way, if you killed a plane worth 3 points, and then got home and landed safely, you would get an additional 5 points.

What do you think?

AFAICS it isnt mentioned anywhere if Death Multiplyers is linked to Perk Points as well, but it would be straightforward to do so..
I agree that if not done, the number of silly virtual kamikaze's will increase even further.

I read the scoring info last night and studied it a bit too.

Yup, I think the death multiplier should be added to the perk scoring.

Also, add in records for best and current streak too.

Hans.

I think you guys are also forgetting the new Perk Sys will turn the arena into a big Alt-Monkeyville. People won't blow 4-7k to clear your six and there will be a lot more zoom bounce fly away @ 500 ias tactics. Which make for yawnarama but we'll see.

1.25 multiplyer for landing, hmmm sounds like around 0.25-0.50 if killed.
