Then where do they come up with the figure that we are over 15 billion in the hole, ROC?
15 bil in the hole is because the morons can't balance a budget, continually funding irrelevant garbage to keep themselves busy. We'd slash that budget simply by having a part time legislature, they wouldn't have time to do nearly as much damage, and they would have to go home and work within the cesspool they create.
What does that have to do with being bankrupt? With an economy as large as California, 15 Billion really isn't as much as one thinks it is. Frankly, if they would remove a couple of porked up programs they would erase that 15 Billion. It's a mentality that needs to change nation wide, not just California.
I didn't say I approved of what they are doing, I simply said it wasn't as big a deal as some might make it out to be. 15 Billion is a great deal of money, if you look at the actual dollar amount, of course it is. The state, national and global economy is growing, it's huge, massive in fact. Look at the 15 Billion as compared to the percentage of the economy. People are staggered by "Billions" , like some oil company record profit, it's a matter of scale, the economy is growing larger, expect larger profits, and expect larger debts, keep focused on the percentages.
I wonder if most people realize their personal debt ratio and how it compares to the governments? On a percentage, even California fairs better than most of the public

The politicians problem is they can simply take more if they "need" it, while the rest of us have to make sacrifices, choices, or come up with alternative revenue streams on our own, we can't simply increase our funding.
Jump up out there, I would think that anyone posting their dissatisfaction on these boards are at least going to their local city councils and raising hell, or at best getting to your legislative leaders and voicing your opinion. Does no good in here. If anyone needs some direction on how to get involved, just let me know, I spend most of my day doing just that, from the local cities and schools to the capitol.
Don't just post in here though, tell someone who can do something about it, get involved.
