I know the 23mm on the Il-2 is supposed to be armor piercing but I have yet to kill any tank ouright with it.  I always seem to get the kill after the fact when a GV finishes them off.

How many rounds does it take to kill a tank (if you can) and where do you have to hit them?

50 rounds or so to kill a panzer. Could be less than that because my aim stinks, and im basing that number off of being able to kill no more than 6 tanks in a sortie without re arm..

I managed to kill a M-3 in one shot, and one shot only, the other one from the left cannon missed.
Does that count?

Panzer: Either top deck or a flat into the rear end at very close range. Panzers are actually very easy Il-2 kills
M4: Top deck right behind the turret, takes some practice.

I have yet to kill a Tiger and I only managed to kill T34s one or two times.

Manned ack seems to work well on the driver's side between second and third wheel. Maybe the 23mm will work on that spot as well.

So the same as the Hurri IID.  I guess I should have expected that.
