Why not allow planes to repair if you park in hangar? Would be better than having to .ef everytime you lose a flap.

Hey LJK Raubvogel,
Nice idea, (Acks regenerate, Hangers Re generate why not aircraft). Although I'm not sure people would use it. The time spent would obviously have to be significantly longer than just a quick Re arm, Would be nice if you could pull up your damage list (With repair times alongside) and highlight the items you wanted fixing, (Until the 1st time you sit for 15 mins while repairs take place only fot some !"£$% to bomb the hanger you are in just as you re start your engine)

good idea. It also becomes a feasable thing to have now that the "perk points" will be introduced next version.

Think about it... if you a "point modifier" was introduced for kills per sortie, then people might not just land and .ef, but they might for once use those pretty looking taxi ways to go to the hangars to repair!!

(that or add "repair depots" between the hangars and runways... another thing to bomb into oblivion to deny the enemy their perk points! *g*)

Yeah, and for something like an engine change you should only have to stay in the hangar the equivalent of one AH "day".

Minor damage, like a lost elevator maybe 1/2 an AH day.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

What about bad landings and also missing the hanger. Having the grow crews push or pull crippled AC into repair hanger. Would be funny to sit in cockpit and watch 5 guys pushing her into hanger.

And then crew chief discussions, "Its gonna take 3hrs minimum sir!"
"You've got 30 seconds pardner!!, now get to work!!"

Seriously though, this repair idea.. I could see having a repair system in place perhaps for perk aircraft.  U brought your perk ride home smokin, based on damage u cannot fly aircraft for 1-24 hrs dependin on dmg, maybe costing perk points like someone suggested. (must be brought home and landed though)

Otherwise how realistic is it to sit and wait in the hangar while they replace yer engine, which u seized, in 1 minute.....

Well, with the super fast re-fuel and re-arm posts at the end of runways, it is not a stretch to see hangars being used for quick repairs either.

It would make scenarios alot more interesting.  Give everyone 10 minutes to select and arm their airplanes and get into the game.  After that change the field setting to allow no more available.  The only planes in the sky are the planes flying.

1 life to live.

You would even need to fly around the back country if you wanted to relocate to another base.  Flanking manuevers could be used.

Hans.

That is how scenarios work now I believe Hans.  Refuel and rearm was quite fast in reality, I'd imagine minor reapirs were as well.  But extensive battle damage ...

I was just thinking it would be nice to be able to keep a victory streak going. You get to Victory 5.....lose a flap, you have the option to pull into a hangar, repair, and take off to continue instead of having to .ef . I wasn't thinking of the scenario bit, thats an even better use for it.

I was kind of hoping that the carrier elevators would actually work (on your own FE, so you don't cause a crash for somebody else).

Of course, we would need to change the carrier planes to have folding wings.

If this hangar repair idea goes thru it would give the hangar of a CV a use, but even if it doesn't I would like to see working elevators just for the ambiance.

However, I think the chances for this idea to actually get implemented are very, very slim because we really don't need it.

I want to mention that I do beleave quick repairs are a big step AWAY from realism, but that fact doesn't bother me, since you can replane right now anyway.

But, like I mentioned before I doubt this will ever get implemented since we can replane.

Hans replane .. well in RL they could hop out of one aircraft and jump into another and takeoff again, and i bet it did happen during heavy action.

I believe a good ground crew in BOB could rearm and refuel a Spit in 20 mins.

make repairs be 2 minutes for ANYTHING. 2 minutes is a long time in the game itself... and you are vulnerable to any idiot that has a 50kg bomb =)
