“I do not have time to waste on Bill Kristol’s musings,” Powell told ABC News. “I am not going to the convention. I have made this clear.”

Looks like another non-news issue on a slow news day...

Sources say former Secretary of State Colin Powell will endorse Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol told FOX News exclusively on Wednesday.

“He may well give a speech at the Democratic convention explaining his endorsement of Obama,” Kristol, a FOX News contributor, said, citing inside sources.

“This is not an absolute done deal, but these people are very confident that Powell will endorse Obama,” Kristol said, adding that he thinks Powell, a Republican, still has “a high respect” for John McCain, Obama’s Republican rival.

Powell immediately denied the report.

“I do not have time to waste on Bill Kristol’s musings,” Powell told ABC News. “I am not going to the convention. I have made this clear.”

Roll Call executive editor Mort Kondracke, also a FOX News contributor, said he personally has spoken with Powell, who denied the report and said he has made no endorsement decisions, according to Kondracke.

It shows' how abysmal FOX has gotten. That was a fabrication, almost completely.

The way it should be in a more perfect world the headline would be like this:

Colin Powell endorsed by obama.

I remember an interview in which Colin Powell stated "as much as I would love to run for President or VP, I could never put my wife through the fire."   I believe she suffers from depression and he doesn't want her to be the target of "mud slinging".

Quite honorable if you ask me.  I've always been a big supporter of Powell.

Does anyone really care about endorsements? I mean will any voter actually vote for someone based on that?

I'm sure a very large group of voters do as they are too lazy or stupid to think/investigate the issues for themselves

and anyone who says this isn't about race is just fooling themselves

Was browsing the news/mags stands this lunch break.. Saw this one special edition with that blue/red portrait of Obama on it.  Picked it up and it was pretty unrestricted in lauding him, page after page... No sign of his Illinois strings. The funny thing was that then there was this page, maybe a bit past halfway thru, about McCain, with a caricature as first page header, labeled...
"Girouetist". I put down the mag then and there. LOL
