Tank Overhaul
« on: August 14, 2008, 03:07:32 AM »
Have any of you seen this show on "The Military Channel"?  It's been on since '06 and it's a pretty good show, they did a mini marathon tonight, basically they take old, mostly WW2 tank and restore the tank to fighting condition.  If you see it on I suggest checking it out.

I'd personally like to see them do an M-48 Patton tank or an M-60 :aok

I remember they were able to track down the driver of one of the tanks, and they asked him if he'd like to drive it again. Can't imagine how moving that'd be.

I loved that the guy drove it as though he'd been driving them every day since the war.

IIRC, on a seperate program about a Spitfire they invited a BoB pilot if he'd like to fly one again! Of course he said yes... Talk about respect for veterans.

And here we are talking about revoking Yeager's flight license. :)

I have only seen the one they did on a Panther, pulled from a river in russia. Great show though, one of the restorations was done in the bay area.

I didn't see that episode, but when I was doing research on various Russian Armor for something I'm working on, I found some pics of a real old Russian guy who actually found his actual tank on display. Was kinda cool to see the pictures.
