You can use literally any resolution you want. Edit the video8.cfg file in your AHII install directory. Keep in mind that performance generally degrades when you use a resolution in game that's different than your desktop resolution. Also note that if you change the ratio of the window, sides may be clipped off to preserve the 90 degree FOV.

Sounds like a great idea ...for a computer savvy guy like yourself(sigh) ill have to wait till they patch it,I did look didn't see what you are talking about. However i do have my desktop at 1776x1000,my game res is at 1152x658, seems to be OK except the small border in game.my performance is very good even at highest quality settings i just need the widescreen settings that will definitely fix everything.

Patch what? There's nothing wrong. You have to manually edit the video8.cfg file to match your resolution settings. Open it with Notepad and change the appropriate values, then save over the original.

Currently you can run at any resolution, but you can NOT run the game in widescreen mode. The produces a 4x3 image and setting your resolution to wide screen means that the top and bottom of the 4x3 image are cropped to fit the new resolution.

What is coming is true widescreen support. That means that if you have a widescreen, you will have more information on the screen. You will see everything that is seen at 4x3 PLUS more field of view to each side. It is a true enhancement to the game.

Notice the Water tower in the second shot?

It is never a good idea to manually edit the video8.cfg file and apply a resolution.  If you check the option in the game to show all the resolutions, the game will show all the resolution combinations your video card will support with the current monitor attached.

Just make sure you are not using the "Default" or "Plug N Play" monitor and you will get an accurate list of the correct resolutions to use.

Setting a resolution the monitor or video card does not support has the potential of damaging the monitor.

Unfortunately I have to use default or plug N Pray for my monitor.  It's an Acer P243W 24 inch lcd wide screen but only drivers available for it are for Winblows Wishta and none for XP.

All the Best...

I can't wait to see altimeters and ammo counters and whatnot on my screen without having to use one of the "look down" modes, that the 4x3 monitor people have been seeing forever.  I can hardly wait for the new widescreen support.  Rock on!
