Here is an update: My first 18 hole game after a 12 year lay-off I shot a 117.
The 2nd 18 holes a week later I put away my driver and used a 3 iron to tee off with, took 17 strokes off my game (100)
My 3rd game I shot a respectable 96, though I made some bad judgement that I should have thought of before taking the shot (such as the typical "uphill lie" and "Downhill lie" philosophies)
Last Monday, while on vacation, I played 9 holes of golf, and shot a 39 (I had 1 birdie and two birdie opportunities).
Slow, but sure, my game is coming back. I need some serious help on my drivers though....
I've been working the hell out of my driver on the neighbors driving range, 3 days a week, no less than 150 balls per night. The best part is...my son has been working the hell out of his clubs too! At the full sized driving range down the road, he's hitting the 200 yard marker with his 3 iron. (Not consistently, but for a 12 year old kid, credit is due!~)
Today I put away my 3 iron for tee off and dedicated the entire 18 holes (sans the par 3's) to my Titanium head, graphite shaft driver. Took 12 strokes off my game and only had 1 drive where I hooked the shot severely into OB. I also had "trouble" with a sand trap whereas I went from one trap to the next, taking a 9 on a par 5. Final score, 88. Slowly, but surely, I'm regaining my 14 handicap that I had 12 years ago, and have goals to reduce that in half by this time next year.
