I love any small map because the hordes are rewarded for fighting each other rather than avoiding each other like the plague. NDIsles is pretty much a perfect map IMHO. The higher player density and the tank town creates a lot of very happy paying customers. The fight between 28 > 7 lasted 24 hours that I saw, see-sawing back and forth. It was the most fun we'd had in many months.

Only had I think 3 incidences where some idiot took one of the GV'ing base. 2 were bish incidences, 1 was rook.  Sadly, the Knits were on the recieving time throughout the whole time.. :rofl

It gets high marks for being a small map, but not one of my favorites because of the transient cv battles that always seem to get cut short.  Then there's that lull until the next cv fight starts, and you wonder where to go.  Maps without water have more consistent fights; I can log off, log back in a couple hours, and find the same fight still going.

Small Maps = More fights = More fun.

I don't really agree with that as an absolute. Yes I will agree the small maps tend to allow furballs to last a long time but on the flip side you can almost never find smaller fights. You either fly in the hoard or you pretty much sit in the tower because there are few sustained smaller fights to be had. If you do find one, it wont belong before either 20 green guys are there or 20 red guys.

Personally, I'm not a fan of having 20 green guys and 20 red guys flying all over the place randomly shooting what ever comes in their gun sights. With the larger maps the furballs are fewer and further between, but I can almost always find a small fight that allows for some 1 on 1 or 2 on 1 fighting. The down side is you end up with all the NOE base capture guys and playing whack a mole with them.

To say small maps cause more fighting IMO is wrong.. The smaller maps cause bottle necks and allow furballs that last for hours but they also cause the giant hoards that cause all the gangbangs and cherry picking.  So it comes down to what you call fighting. Being part of the hoard or fighting in a more 1 on 1 sense.

It would be nice to see a mix of both.. the big furballs and the ability to find smaller fights on a regular basis.

I have never been in a furball where I did not go in, drag some out or run some enemy down on the periphery away from the maelstrom and get into small engagements. I must have done that 30 times last night alone. You have to work a furball into your favor, with that many willing enemy, you're going to be able to get the kind of fight you want if you put some thought into it.

The people I see who get frustrated in a furball are those that cruise in at a strata inappropriate for the type of fight they are looking for and feel obliged to fight the first con they come across, regardless of the tactical situation, without "setting-up" the fight more to their liking or seeking out bandits more likely to provide "their" fight. Of course even the best laid plans go awry sometimes against human opponents, but that unpredictability is half the charm and allure of this genre.

Small maps tend to get more NOE's imho. With big maps everyone's spread out and you can't get everyone together. On small maps the distances are shorter, but additionally it's a better chance the enemy will get the base because there's less ground to watch.

Is it just me or does everyone ask for large maps, praying and saying they will make everything better...Then when they get them they point out their flaws and forget that the small maps had flaws also, and now want them.

You all will never be pleased.

Small maps tend to get more NOE's imho.

Large maps have more room for NOE'S. More maneuvering space for the group to evade detection, more fields not under attack already, smaller player density makes it harder for defender to mount a defence in time.

:D

I asked for large maps and am happy they are back. The main reason I'm now asking for one MA having the large maps and one having the small ones is simply that I want to make as many players happy as possible ;)
