Less body mass in gymnastics equals easier transitions through the air since you don't displace more air and you hit the ground with less force. On another note it was funny how the Chinese ministry of sport listed one of the athletes birthday as 1994/1/1 up until just a few months ago and she was issued a new passport with an older birth date. At least that was what got reported by a newspaper in London and was mentioned on NBC this morning.

There are many nations with more medals than China if you compare it to the size of the population. The number of medals China has now is not in itself suspicious at all. If you look back in time sweden has had a very very high number of medals in the summer games compared to the population. Norway had a population of just over 4 million people in 94 yet had the most medals and only one less gold than russia. In 98 we were also second behind germany. In Salt Lake in 02 we were number one. The winter games are smaller than the summer games but still there are lots of nations with larger populations living in winter sports conditions. The chinese have invested a lot in their talents since they got the games and they also dont care that much about other activites for their candidats than their sports. If you look at how they train its _almost_ like a state sponsored modern slavery.

Beaten by a little girl who is too young?   Sounds like a huge whine from countries who lost.

What are lazs' thoughts?

Younger Gymnast  have a huge advantage over older ones. Besides that they clearly broke the rules if they used under age girls.

If they broke the rules strip them of the medals,  Same as you would for disqualification and drug use.  it should be a per user issue not the country..

You have to remember this is on the Chinese govt's offical website, so they knownly changed the ages and tried to cover it up. This is the blog from the guy who found the ages.. http://strydehax.blogspot.com/

Just like most of our East Asian brothers and sisters, the Chinese girls are way underdeveloped compared to western girls at same age.

Basically, a chinese girl at 16 would look like 12-13 to most westerners.

I really don't buy that because we had Asian girls on our team that didn't look 12 years old.

Not only that, it's a known fact one of the girls is only 14. The IOC is now trying to determine if the Chinese government knew and trieed to cover it up. I'm wondering, how could they NOT know?
