I find it kinda funny that the 8600 256 is the bottom of the barrel card in the test since it's the one I have and run 60 FPS in AH at all times.  :O

Good article.  Let's me know where my 19 month old Geforce 8800 GTS 640mb holds up.  Also, as you look at the benchmarks per game, you can easily tell that certain games are specifically coded for better performance on an ATI or Nvidia Card.  The temperature charts were also interesting.  Before I redid the cooling in my computer (new fans/HSF/layout etc), my 8800 would do similar to what that article listed (60C idle and I only got 75C on load).  But with better fans and airflow, my 8800 will do about 53-55C idle and won't touch 70 on a load.

His review of cards like the HD 4870 X2 is a bit premature given that the drivers are almost pre-beta issue and he is not using Vista 64 which is as I understood things the only way you could get full use of the card. As things are today with drivers and cards it looks like the 8800 GT is the best buy for me but what your decision is based on may result in a different decision. Im waiting to see if I get the HD4870X2 in the giveaway in September and then buying the card at the end of the month once reality sinks in that I cant have it for free.   :D :huh
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.
