Assume the Niki has a significant E advantage <altitude> . What are the best ways to handle this ?

start a turn as if you don't see him. as he gets closer, pull tighter. if it looks like he's following, pull to near blackout, then top rudder and aileron, roll over the top, you should have a very quick snapshot at him.

other possibility. turn into him. shorten his time to get a guns solution. try to be in a shallow climb as you turn, so as to lessen his advantage. i thnk the nik looses almost 1k ft on each zoom? if you can grab 500 to 1,000ft on each evasive, you'll be pretty even with him fairly soon.

they're not perfect, but have worked for me in the past.

one thing that should be cleared up though sunka.........anythng can easily kill anything in the right hands.

i had widewing hand my bellybutton to me in ta one night. him in an fm2, me in f6f. i dove in thinking easy fight......till i was suddenly in front of him. i couldn't even accelerate away from him fast enough. had that fight been in the ma, he'd have kilt a plane considered to be superior to the fm2.

i would imagint there's guys here that kan kill any of the uber rides in a spit1.

just my 2 cents

I agree totally ,This is from soda's page ,but i have flown N1K'S now and then and found it dose turn easy with a spit and a good sustained turn, and has good speed to keep up.When talking about birds we cant bring up aces we need to stick with average sticks ,as that's what AH is full of .And I'll up an FM 2 against anything any day its a fine bird.

I agree with the statment that any plane can kill any plane with the right person behind it. But the Spit can out roll the nikki ez and i agree with the very first answer givin to you.
I also agree with dodging him till you can climb up to him. But hibly i dont have any problems in my spit 8 against nikki's ( unless there flown by texture LOL). So hook up with me in between our squad functions and ill help:)

I have had great luck making them miss the first pass.

if they blow by you going to fast they can't pull up quick enough to regain their alt... (as long as your diving after them and gaining E as well) quick enough.

After they blow by you they seem to also want to try and turn

once their E begins to fade they are yours as long as they don't get so slow as to be able to deploy flaps.

Barrel rolls not aileron rolls seem to work well.

nikis are a farily tough oponent for a spit8/16 of course ive been on both sides of that battle numerous times.

in a spit if i start with a disadvantage ill try to equalize it by making my evasives going up. if it looks like hes just going to bnz me ill try to get even e. but if the guy comes in very hot blowing chunks of e sometimes i can avoid and follow him up for a kill or simply disengage low and try to get him wayy to fast for his bird..

get a nik over 400. mph cut throttle to nothing and pull like heck hoping for the overshoot works sometimes./
and then there is always the 16's roll rate advantage to think of i can sometimes just start scisoring like a 190 but it usualy only works if im at moderate speed and the nick is pretty fast.
