Figured out the delay on the WGr.210 rockets
« on: December 30, 2000, 01:22:00 AM »
Tested with a 109-F4 at 2k even, 300mph. Timed it using my stopwatch. The rocket travels 1,026 yards total, and detonates about 300 yards in front of the aircraft. My only gripe is that die-hard LW-drivers don't have any air-to-ground rockets anymore. By the time you get within 300 yards of a ground target it's almost too late to fire.

Umm... we (9./JG 54) never used WGr.21's for AtG, they were/are useless for that.

I concur with nath, those damn things were inaccurate in the air, they used them mainly to break of the formations and then gunned down bombers.  I couldnt imagine hitting a ground vehicle with the things.

Historically yes, the rockets were useless for ground attack I suppose but in AH I got  good with them knocking out ack then reversing and tearing up the field with 30mm on the second pass.  3.JG/2 carried out some practice with the "new" rockets against bombers and they seem to work well but you really have to be on the mark to knock a B17 out of the sky but it can be done with one rocket as we found out.

However now that they have been modelled correctly when are we (paying customers    )gonna get an F or G series 190 for ground attack?  I'm part of a small squad that got very good at taking out small to medium fields with the A8 when it had the "old" rockets.  Now we're down to 1 bomb per plane, whine? maybe, but it sure would be nice to see the red "R" on a white shield pasted on a FW190F rather a F4u or P47 for ground attack.  Trying to get the troops together for a squad night now is tuff all we have is fighter sweeps and that can get old quick, to be on the offensive you need to capture fields and it would be much more enjoyable if we could see a LW Jagdbomber in the hangar.
