reduce the ack
« on: August 28, 2008, 04:24:20 PM »
I think the slower speeds of this planeset make main arena ack settings too deadly.  Anyone else tried some jabo runs in a 110 or something comparable?  I started taking hits before my bomb even hit the ground.  In the Ju88 a lone ack in a town got the oil for both engines before I could gun it down.

Attack from higher so you don't fly through the ack. Getting hit by the ack at all in that plane while you are bombing is your own fault.

I don't know what the next round holds in the way of aircraft. If jabo birds like the P-38G, and Bf-110G come along though. The current ack might be just right.
Right now the Boston seems to be the best bet for Allies to use as a jabo followed by the peeeeefortaaay

Damionte, did you read that I said "gun it down?" :D

I'm not debating tactics here.  I'm saying that these ack settings are meant for faster, late war aircraft.

I still say leave them alone. Why handicap the ack because the planes are slow. Just wait till you're in a better plane to survive better.

At the same time it could just be your luck. I haven't had any trouble with the acks accuracy.

The Boston seems to be a better choice for deacking. Just ensure that your about 400mph (compression) and you very seldom get hit. As soon as you get slow, your through. I proved it last night at A13 city.

Agree - leave it as it is.

It's equally hard on both sides. It will level out once we get into the faster plane sets.

Right, so we should only be able to do ground attack when the faster more-armored aircraft are available... :huh  I don't get the logic.

I can only say that you're doing it wrong. The ACK is fine. I have been running unarmed slow as hell transports at the ack all week without much trouble. The ACk is fine the way it is. Your JU88 shouldn't even need to fly through the ack.

Also you won't get nailed by just the one ack in a city. The cities are right up against the airfields. So a big plane like the 88 is goign to take on the airfield ack as well as the towns.

I was deacking in the 88 because I had already dropped my bombs.  There was only one ack up in the town and I approached it from the side furthest away from the airfield; the field guns were not firing yet.  My 110C was also torn up dive bombing from 8k agl.

I don't know how to explain the difference in our experience.  Maybe ack has been messed with?  Things seem to change frequently in the ava without notice.

Well have you tried it since then?

I been flying in it every day of the war and haven't had any problems.
