Range at which textures will switch
« on: August 29, 2008, 05:50:26 AM »
I dont know if this is on my end only, I have maxed out all range settings in graphic details.
Nevertheless, when I get closer to another AC in flight, at some range the textures "pop" up, and the plane changes size as well. I know this size changing effect is due to the LOD calcs, but I dont get why the textures dont get through smoothly.
Needless to say this throws off my aim from time to time.
Is there any fix to this, except disabling other players' skins?

I play on 1600x1600
ATI Rad 9800 Pro
175 Opteron
2gig RAM
Win XP SP3

All my best and thanks in advance,
Matt

9800 pro, while a great board in its time is an older video card. You may have everything "maxed out" in the game, but the game, I think, will not make avalible what your card can't handle. What textures size are you using in the game? WIth that card, 256 might be your max. When I had that card almost 2 years ago, I could run at 512's, but had to cut back on the sliders a bit to keep it smooth (had a 3 gig single CPU and 3 gig of ram too).

If you are using the high resolutuin texture pack, reduce the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256 just to see if it effects the loading of the texture.
