It's an election year and we all know nobody complains about anything during an election year.

The repube's are desperate.  They're up and willing for anything right now.

It's only right, for right now. This is nothing new, or special.

Here's how the US deals with all disasters... lets take San Francisco as an example...

City burns to the ground.
People freak out, demand changes, government implements these changes.
Nothing gets rebuilt quickly, time marches on, developers bank roll new politicians.
New politicians quietly erase the requirements to prevent such a disaster.
Time marches on, city burns to the ground again.

Rinse and repeat. Substitute San Fran and the fire with pretty much any major disaster.

I think more importantly this time LA had a governor that worked and the NO Mayor had the common sense to listen to him.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

That was very evident especially after "chocolate city nagin" said that everyone could come back the next day, and Jindal said, no, let's look at it Thursday at the earliest and make it an ordered return.
