IIRC Warps are not  generally as much a product of CPU overhead as they are network issues.
I have absolutely no idea as to how to go about killing processes in Vista.:(

For most people the sky is the limit.  For a pilot the sky is home.

Not sure the program is compatible with Vista but do a Google for FSAutostart ---freeware program that runs you through a list of startup services/applications and advises which can be suspended safely---and then applies those changes when you boot up AH.

As for you frame rate of 90, check your 3Dsettings in graphics display control panel to see if you have verticle synch "always on" enabled. You want it on. That's the  best I can offer until Dr. Skuzzy returns.

FSAutoStart is now called "AlacrityPC" and IIRC it's Vista compatible.

Might I add two things to try.

BlackViper.com is a great website that will help you trim down the uneeded Services running.

TrendMicros HijackThis is a fantastic tool to get rid of a lot of the crud running in the backgroud.  WARNING: be carefull with HiJackThis.  If you are unsure if it should be running, GOOGLE IT and see if ya' need it or not.

For the record I have @ 16 processes and 2 things that run on startup.  70 is nuts.

I've been using AlacrityPC for several months on my Win XP Pro machine and IMHO it's a keeper.  Highly recommended.

According to the web site, "AlacrityPC is designed to run on the following OS: Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 2003, and 2008 and in both 32bit and 64bit."

More info here.
