I say theory, because theory does not = fact. Facts have a higher status than theory.

You're comparing apples and oranges.  Hypotheses and theories are dynamic explanations of facts.  There's no higher epistemic status in science than theory.  You can call our best theories "facts" if you like, but that's a colloquialism, a manner of speaking that belies the truth that there is always more data to be gathered.

I wasn't referencing any particular part of the wiki article because I hadn't pasted the link when I made the original post.

The National Academy of Sciences says as much:

Quote
Some scientific explanations are so well established that no new evidence is likely to alter them. The explanation becomes a scientific theory. In everyday language a theory means a hunch or speculation. Not so in science. In science, the word theory refers to a comprehensive explanation of an important feature of nature that is supported by many facts gathered over time. Theories also allow scientists to make predictions about as yet unobserved phenomena.

I really believe that a lot of the evolution debate is fueled by the ambiguity of the word "theory," between its everyday usage and what it means in science.  It pains me when I hear evolution proponents argue that evolution is a fact; they're making the problem worse.

Paline is an over rated POS, just liek anyone else in politics. McCain was cool,.. right up until he got on the ticket, no he's a compulsive liar and hypocritical cry baby. He's lucky Paline took that focus off him.

But we're not voting for her, we're voting or not voting for him. The reason they make her such a big deal is because below her sensationalism there's nothing else there that could win it for them. All she does is repeat her convention speech word for word in every single speech. Americans have lost their damn minds. LOL

Stupid twice, stupid thrice.

Rome burned for a reason,... complete ignorance. :)

No I'm not saying Obama is THE answer, I'm just saying they are NOT the answer. IMO.

He does... he's right that there is a chance that McCain might not live out his four years if elected.  But let's also be fair to Governor Palin in finding out who she is.  That hasn't happened, not even close.  Hysteria is what has set in, not an informed discussion.

Palin?
On tape 11 months prior to proclaiming she said "No thanks" to the bridge to nowhere, saying she was FOR the bridge and that it was Alaska's right to infrastructure.  Got the money for the bridge, by the way, and spent it..... some of it on the damn road leading up to the bridge that wasn't to be built, for crying out loud.
Believes pipelines are the direct result of prayer.
Believes that our troops are doing "the lord's work" in the middle east.
Against Right to Choose. Would seek to appoint judges that would abolish Roe v Wade, were she president.
Against Evolution.  Wishes to mandate creationism teachings in public setting.
Against Environmental Conservation.
Looked into banning books in a public library.
Gained more earmarks per capita, to her hometown than any other representative.
Fired the guy who wouldn't fire a state policeman, who was harassing her sister.  (I know, I don't blame her, but still, it is shady admittedly.  There are real grownup ways to go about things. I don't see that as one of em.)

I know enough about her to know that she is 300 years too late in her thought.

Yes, because I go to Hollywood actors for political advice.  Clearly they have the best judgement.

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl Yes we have learned so much from those folks who can't talk with out a script. Say, Like Obama.

You know where are Billiary and Hilliary? I think they like NoBama sinking. Remeber Obama gave Hilliary the finger on national TV.

I have a thought. Hilliary started out as a conservative Republican. I wonder if she looks at Palin and says, wow that could have been me.

Please sir, which ones.

At least 5 and probably 7 of those have direct tape evidence conferring her position.

In any case, she's just a smokescreen.  McCain is hiding behind her, trying not to get any really big questions.

Damon also said, adding later "I think there's a really good chance Sarah Palin could be president, and I think that's a really scary thing, because I don't know anything about her, and I don't think in eight weeks I am going to know anything about her.”

Translation: "Because I do all of my research on TV; I shouldn't have to put out the effort to actually READ."

Palin?
On tape (source please)11 months prior to proclaiming she said "No thanks" to the bridge to nowhere, saying she was FOR the bridge just like Oboma, and Biden)and that it was Alaska's right to infrastructure.  Got the money for the bridge, by the way, and spent it..... some of it on the damn road leading up to the bridge that wasn't to be built, for crying out loud.
Believes pipelines are the direct result of prayer.

Believes that our troops are doing "the lord's work" in the middle east.

For those who care about facts instead of utterly ridiculous word-twisting - the full quote surrounding the bit that's getting so much play:

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God"
pretty much a simple church prayer made by lots of people who actually do go to church especially those with kids about to be deployed there!

Against Right to Choose. Would seek to appoint judges that would abolish Roe v Wade, were she president.
no info but as far as i kind find, no enterview ever existed. (again source please?)
Against Evolution.  Wishes to mandate creationism teachings in public setting.

Against Environmental Conservation.
I'll try to tackle this one myself,,, :noid

Looked into banning books in a public library.

"Mary Ellen said something along the line of",,,,I.E. 1996 gossip at best. snopes Say's false!

Gained more earmarks per capita, to her hometown than any other representative.
good for them, that only means she was doing her job! wouldn't it be nice if they all worked for there people instead of themselves?

Fired the guy who wouldn't fire a state policeman, who was harassing her sister.  (I know, I don't blame her, but still, it is shady admittedly.  There are real grownup ways to go about things. I don't see that as one of em.)

she has yet to comment on this  but the guy who got fired says she didn't fire him for that! maybe he has some dark secret that got him canned,, bet you can't wait to find out what it is?

I know enough about her to know that she is 300 years too late in her thought.

really because most of the people in this country are still god fearing and still go to church and pray!

on a side note this is boring! find something real to debate!

you mean McCain has been hiding for the last 30 years behind someone else, and just now she jumped up and said I'll do it?
i would say he has been answering all the "big" questions for the last 30 years,
and none of them had to do with cocaine use or his choice of pastors,or why he was affiliated with known terrorists?

Wrong, bro, seriously I didn't even know he said that, I generally do not watch the tv.

You're telling the guy that started the thread and provided a link to Biden's recorded statement that you know what the thread is about but I don't?

I can see why you support The Obamessiah.
