1. The running around the tower etc is quite infuriating and serves no purpose that I can think of.

2. Clipboard may be a 'realism' feature but I find the map hard to read (even zoomed) and much prefer the WB one.

3. The compass is not clear (in spit anyway).

All above in 1024 where I'm getting about 55fps which is less than in WB.

Good points Glacey.

Some people like the running around in tower and to the hanger, some don't.  Just about the only advantage that I can think of is it takes a moment to get back on the runway after one has been killed.  That might stop someone from respawning every second to about every three seconds.    Since the final release will be flat rate it doesn't cost anything but a few moments of time.

I agree with you that the map can be hard to read.  I do like the clipboard feature, though.  Development is planned whereby a group leader can create a mission plan in the map room and then everyone in the group can have it input onto their clipboard for the flight.  Personally I am less fond of the actual map table in the map room.

You should have two compasses... one that floats and one that is gyroscopic.  Which one is not clear?  Personally I like to do a close up instrument sweep once in a while.  Try it: press F8 to get pan; press Z to get zoom, and then do an dash scan.  Press F1 to go back to normal view when done.  It is very immersive for me.  You can also map a key to be a closer view of the panel by saving head positions.

55 FPS!    Whatchya complain' about?!?  Remember this is a 3d cockpit, not a 2d overlay.  They way I see it, the human eye sees anything over 28FPS as smoothness: as long as one doesn't fall below that when the CPU is at its most taxed then anything above that is moot.

Keep up the comments!
Cheers,

Hi Phaeten,

1. Compass - both - the red tip on the gyro can be almost invisible and the other is decorative.

2. be nice to be able to set the clock.

3. Cockpit shake - as an ex-aerobatic flyer I have never seen this extraordinary phenomenon even doing 6g snap rolls in a Pitts never mind a gentle turn.  It's gimmicky.

4. My oil gauges (Spit) are stuck on zero.

5. Stall noise is nasty after a while.

6. Chessmen are somewhat naff - don't really want to be a Bishop - or an archbishop either.

7. Haven't heard a good word from anyone in Tangmere about all the running around with the clipboard.  There must be a less irritating way of introducing a delay.

8. I swear I can adjust my seat so it's as if I'm standing up in the cockpit!

9. Turns don't seem to need rudder in the Spit anyway.

More later.  However as it stands at present I will be back to WB for a month before I have another look when hopefully the flight model will have been sorted.

Good points.

See you in a month.  I am sure there will have been tremendous development within that time.

Cheers,

No cockpit shake?   I've seen film shot from cams mounted in the cockpits of aerobatic planes (Christen Eagle to be specific) that showed the pilot being bounced about pretty well when executing violent manuvers.  I too am a pilot, although not acrobatic rated.

Point is that when you are doing it you don't see it cos you are looking out of the cockpit.
