New Englanders!!!! and others on the East Coast
« on: September 15, 2008, 07:44:23 PM »
I was standing outside of my work today in Plymouth, Ma. and a B-24 Liberator flew overhead. It blew my mind. I called the Plymouth Airport and sure enough...I missed it. The plane was there until today. It was there for a couple of days along with a B-17, B25 and a TP-51C. They are now in New Hampshire but will be back through Massachusetts, Conneticut, N.Y. Maryland and a couple of other podunk places.

Check out the schedule. You can find it by searching the "Collings Foundation"

Anyone around the Boston area should go to the one in Beverly this weekend. I'm there on Satuday. This will be so cool. :rock

Our family went to Springfield, IL to see the Lincoln museum, and while at an Arby's eating lunch, this big four engined monster flies overhead. We looked on our GPS, found the nearest airport checked it out, and sure enough there it was, sitting neatly on the runway. A B17 from the Arizona Commemorative Airforce. They were offering rides, but they had to be reserved. However, we go to take a lot of picture and walk thought it. Was awesome. My mother also witnessed a B-2 stealth circling for some odd reason near her office building for refueling. Keep your eyes open, ya never know what ya might see.  :aok

I live in Northfield NH.

Have seen them before at Concord and Laconia NH airport.

I work in Concord, about a quarter mile from the airport, gonna check it out tomorow.

Thanks for the heads up!!

I saw what appeared to be a B-24 (it was a couple miles away) circling Fall River, MA at very low altitude on thursday afternoon, maybe this was it.

I remember when they came through in 2005. I had a B-17, B-24 and a P-51 fly over my baseball practice at less than 1,000 feet.

They come into Danbury airport every year Fugi.  As an AF vet, one year I lucked into a personal tour of a 17 from the pilot, and I was in utter awe.  When I got to the ball turret, at 6'2" I barely made it to my waist.  I shuddered to think what it was like being locked in that little hole, having fighters & 88mm coming at you.  I respect & admire those guys so much.   :salute

Had a chance to do a walk through of a 24 (awesome plane) a few years ago with my father in law. He was a gunner on 24 with the 13th air force 307th bomb group. Long Rangers. I think his last base was Morotia New Guinea  ( spelling?) sometime in 44.  We lost him this year but he had some great stories.
