From what I understand its use hasn't really been implemented yet.  Once it's modeled correctly it will allow you to dial in a coarser pitch for yout prop (to bite more air).  This won't help performance much but will instead allow you to 'cruise' in order use less fuel.  Pyro mentioned really wanting to make fuel consumption a prime factor of consideration.
