I can't imagine they had 2 independent coolant systems.  That would require two water pumps (or some variation of), more weight, and not to mention there would be no way to cool both sides of the engine adequately with just one radiator.  I'm sure it's all one closed system that runs the coolant through the water pump, through the engine, through one radiator, then to the other, then back to the water pump.

they were located under the wings. they had to have a very small frontal area due to this. with a small frontal area, a single radiator most probably could not release enough heat to suffeciently cool the engine. so their engineers simply added a second radiator.
in the case of the pony, putting the radiator in that scoop, allowenough fin area, and the airflow across it could easily be controlled with an outlet door.

Beau32, yer my new bestest friend!  :) Pls put a source!  :pray scan it in to your puter and post!

109's are getting new radiator controls!  WHOOO HOOO  :D
I hear a rumbling of angry platinum and gold members! Stampeed!  :O

And to think that formerly banned 'evil schlowy' might get a 109 change for the better, I'll get the iron cross! :cry

nope. the pony had a checkvalves in it's cooling system(if i reacll correctly from reading) that automaticaly shut off parts of the damaged cooling system(later models).

FIRST OFF...I DON'T CARE. second off.....i SERIOUSLY hope all those mispells were on purpose.
third off....someone earlier had mentioned the mustang. i simply stated what i had read that it had. its SINGLE radiator was capable of more effecient cooling than the two on the 109's simply due to frontal area. THAT is the only reason the 109's had 2.
as for you 109 guys getting that option....again, i don't care. i'll keep killin em, and keep gettin killed by the better flown ones. no big deal.

learn to fly the blessed aircraft as they are ingame. forget what they could do in r/l.
