Matrox Triple Screen

I have read the info on the Matrox setup but still have a couple of questions. 

-  Does running the Matrox setup require a special video card.  My video card does not have a resolution 3 times wider than normal?
-  How does the 3 screen setup effect frame rates?
-  For anyone using Track IR, how helpful are the other two screens?
