Nothing climbed "out of the ooze". Unicellular turned into multicellular.  Multicellular plans abounded in the oceans until the atmosphere built up, an allowed for the blockage of UV, which breaks down carbon based organisms at the cellular level.

That's when multicellular organisms began to crawl out of the oceans.

Ok, they climbed out of the ocean....any links back to those guys?

Ignorant.  Brainwashed.  Thanks MORAY37.  Just goes to show how an education and left leaning tendencies does not make you more open minded and accepting of other people's beliefs. This bs has to stop.  Maybe I did not graduate from college, have three years though, but, I accept that you believe certain things that I do not and have not resorted to calling you a cretin, stupid or other such drivel.  Why do you have to resort to slinging the same ooze that you are crawling through.  I have said this too many time on the bbs to even count now.  Deal with the fact that I do not believe as you and shut the F up if you are not going to at least be civil.

You may have any belief you wish.  If that belief contradicts observable FACT, don't be surprised if someone thinks you have turned you back on it, I.E. "are ignorant of it".
It was not a personal attack in the least.  My apologies if you thought it was.

Also, if you can't sit and look at the question in an objective fashion, and not let your ideological standing get in the way, then you are technically "brainwashed".
Also, not a personal attack.

I did not call you stupid at all.  Don't get so defensive that you can't see the forest for the trees.

Absolutely.

Really, so we can trace everything we see today back to 1 common ancestor using the fossil record?

This thread is degrading into name-calling attacks.  Some of these posts are really pretty high-and-mighty bad.  I could give a rip about either side of evolution right now, but I wish you guys would quit stooping so low.  I find the back and forth banter about evolution interesting, but I'd rather not read the personal attacks.  The facts and opinons are great without having to resort to questioning education/beliefs/intelligence.  Just sours the whole discussion.

Just my .02 and your mileage may vary.  Carry on!

Scientifically, we have one specific species that was the first to exhibit bilateral symmetry, as well as nerve chord development(a precursor to a spine) in the precambrian.  After this particular little species came about, within 1 million years bilateral symmetry became common.  This particular epoch of time is well known for it's diversity of body plans.  After it, bilateral symmetry was represented in 96% or so of organisms.  Now, there's only a slight handful of organisms that aren't bilateral.

There is ongoing research into it's specific genetic makeup, but it is known that this species was the first to use HOX genes in development.  HOX genes are found in everything, at this point.

A decent representation of HOX genes, specifically comparing a mouse embryo with a fly.  Notice the genes are at the exact same spot.  This highly unlikely, without a common ancestor in the far background.
