The Ease of Treason

HTC;

Currently, players can play for any team they like, and they can change teams at any time.

I was hoping that you might consider the idea of restricting players from changing teams in some fashion.  I am not suggesting an overly restrictive method, just one that deters potential espianage.

Scenerio: Team A member switches to Team B for awhile.  Obtains the general Team B strategy at the moment.   The Team A member then returns to Team A, and plans an attack or a defense, with the other Team A members.

EX:  While playing to tonight my HQ was knocked out two times.  To prevent this from happening again, I "CAPPED" the likely bases from which further attacks would be launched.  No sooner had my team's DAR come up, did two bombers simulataneously appear  at that the very base I was capping.

I realize that the HQ time down is a timed event, and that the players most likely timed it.  They knew the time when it would come back up.

Simply due to the coincidence.  I realized that espianage, by quickly changing teams, could be done quite easily.  I wanted you folks at HTC to realize this also, if you have not already.

To be very clear, I am not accusing any player(s) of shady intelligence gathering methods.  I am just discussing the ease and possibility of which it can be done.

If this does not fit into your plan for your Beta test period, I can completely understand.  Players really have very little rights until they "Fork Over Their Dough" and I certainly have not "Forked" over any of mine.  But, I believe that some restriction for changing teams may thwart some possible hostilities, game wise, in the future.

BTW The Landscape is totally awesome and I love the B-26.  Pat yourselves on the back for me!

It does happen, though I don't know to what extent it is important. For this reason I never declare my destination or plan when I go on a buff run. Anyone that needs to know will get a private message. Once I get a little alt, I am a bit less restrictive with the comms.

Dolomite is right,
 plan your operations with the few people that you know. Accept volunteers to fill in the slots but do not tell them the goals of the operation - only a flight leader and his deputy should know the plan.
 The pilots should know who to follow, callsign, the plane type, ammo and fuel loadouts. Everything else they are told in route.
  That is actually adds a lot of realism to the perception, at least it did to me in WB scenarios. Of course it only works if the CO is good and it is not easy managing something like this, but what the heck - if CO screws up, his people will not really die, so experience accumulates.

Joemud did this to us at 22 last night. Showed up on the runway as a friendly just as his squad was pressing their attack. He wasnt shy about it and just sat there as his squad (unsuccessfully) tried to take the field. Bull and I recognized him as a spy right away. In challange over open channel he seemed to think we were strange to complain about it..
That was a definatly confirmed case of the behavior. An unproven but more troubling thing that happend last week whent like this. I logged on and saw that f6 was being attacked but that there where no defenders there. So i moved there to take off only to be vulched my one of TOP rook pilots. Flying as a knight. ??
I tried again but was vulched again by one of the best vulchers in the game. The field was captured and inside of 2 min later there is the pilot back on rook country channel?
Question, did this pilot set up this situation, note that no one had been defending one of his own fields for a while and then manufacture a capture?
Given a choice I prefer what JoeMud did. Hid did not really pretend to be a rook, We were using RW so he could not hear our coms just by being in our country. I did not have to trust him to save my but 5 min later...
I have never trusted that other pilot again.

Query Pongo, is that rook pilot still a rook? Several squads have switched around in the last month. Plus I point out that many pilots FAVOUR one side but do not DEDICATE to it. Notably are Warhound and Mitsu. Mitsu favours rooks and Warhound prefers bishops. Both either will switch on a slow day to where there is action.

Everyone;

Lets not let this go into a "Mud Slinger".  I suggest that if you want to "Tell a Tell" use xxxx's instead of a person's name.

That low life treason no good xxxxxxxx.

That low life treason no good Minotaur.

While I'm on espianage, anybody having to shoot chutes that are hanging around near bases under attack?  I have done it a couple of times.  Them low lifes.

Hitech;

Thanks.

While I have never switched to another side to committ treason, I am one of those pilots that frequently fly for different sides.

I use to only fly rook, but lately have flown bishop more and more, since a couple of my **MOL** squaddies typically fly there.

Knights are the only team I haven't really flown for. That standard issue iron underwear is just a little too chaffing for my sensitive bottom
