Now that I'm back from vacation in Britain, it's time for me to move forward with the BoB patch.

The ones posted are wonderful.  I thought I'd throw one in the mix only because it's a design I've had in mind for a while, but I only recently learned Gimp well enough to render it.

Any comments?

There must be a way to represent the pride and dignity of the German nation during a time of war that doesn't reflect the horrific toll on humanity this particular rendition of the swastika represents.

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

Yep, gotta lose the Swastika.  Use the fuselage marking off a 109 maybe?

Actually, we don't have to.  It is a privately produced patch.  Also, it's not a swastika -- it's a part of one.

Brooke i would agree with Dan and Roc ,
Could cause a lot grief with the swastika in it . Even tho i belive in what history was and it should be remembered for the way it was and not the PC bunch way of thinking , but to wear it in public over here would just be asking for trouble .
sorry

But looks good and different from the other 2 Bob patches

It can not be worn in Europe. It's a law in some countries.

Iron Cross would be better in the long run. Black ,white with a red background. Or half an Iron Cross.

Just a comment.  The sword, while a battle implement, seems to me to suggest nothing about the airwar of the BoB.  BoB was the quintesential air battle of WWII, no ground conflicts, strictly air force pitted against air force.  If any patch should show some aircarft in it, this is the one IMO.

Why not the roundel on one side and the maltese cross on the other? Simple, but is plenty of information...

I think folks have a feel for the shield design.  Rather than me going through more work on it, it's probably best at this stage to see if folks prefer the BlauK design.  If so, no need to do the additional work.

So, let's hear opinions -- which should we go with:  Blauk design, or more work on the shield design?

If it's the Blauk design, which one do people prefer?

Me, I like #3 (or the variant on #3) as the colors are different.  Most patches are predominantly red, white, and blue -- #3 is a nice change.

Replace the sword with a 2-bladed prop reminiscent of WWI biplane props. It divides the patch in half with more symbolism about the events taking place.

I have to say as a change of pace, I like the shield idea.  The prop idea in the middle is pretty cool :aok  I also think that the Swastika, while accurate, is a little much for polite display.  Personally, I plan on getting a jacket and sewing these on  :salute
