My boss got 2 tickets for $600NZ (~$390 US, ie $195 a ride). He's not sure if he wants to go I'm thinking he might let me buy a ticket :D

That is amazingly cheap for a ride in a WWII fighter.  As others have mentioned, the price in the US for rides in P-51's is in the US$2000-US$3000 range.  For rides in WWII bombers, the prices are in the US$400 range.

Above is a link to the prices for a T-6/SNJ/Harvard ride(you get to fly it also, even in formation) in Kissimmee FL, that $390US for a spitty sounds like a deal!

Yeah thats what I thought, he picked them up at a charity auction. He's having 2nd thoughts at selling one now, my enthusiasm was somewhat of a giveaway :(

I'm not a WWII historian, and by far not an expert concerning any plane, but please correct me if I'm Wong.  Isn't the Spitfire a single seat er?  If so how can you go for a ride?

Just wondering,

Fred

probably a trainer version, 2 seats one behind another, dual controls.

tough question, a spit is like a moped or fat chick...

Gosh I don't know.

For stick time, like the guy climbs to 200 AGL and gives me the stick for a half hour....$200 would be fair.  I probably wouldn't buy it, but that would be a fair value.

Not alot of opportunities to fly a spit out there nowadays.

There wouldn't be a stick for YOU to do anything with, trust me.... No matter how much you paid him.

I flew with the Red Barron aerobatic team, 2 seat stearman. Nothing for me to fly with up in front. I was dissapointed, but you got to imagine if some Ahole got in there and started fighting over the controls. Not a good Idea[d].

I'd pay $200 for the ride, no sweat.  I'd record the flight, do some high G turns and show all you dweebs that the real thing lost energy in a turn. :D

Fwiw, when my buddy and I rented a Grob it ran ~$80 a couple years ago for about an hour of flight time.  $200 for a little time in a Spit is a superb deal.

-----------

edit:  If I didn't get a little bit of stick time I would reconsider.

I'd gladly pay $200 for a ride in a Spit.

Is this a serious question?

If you want stick time in a TF-51, (dual controls) ..
www.stallion51.com is the place to go.

You will be flyin with a CFI in type, so it goes in your log if you have one.
If not, he will turn the controls over to yas whenever you want to go.. and talk you thru whatever you want to do.
And film it.
Full Aerobatics workout including accelerated stalls both left and right, combat flaps, the works;
ground attack, air-air (if the other school is up :)
..an such.

It is the *best* time with a machine I have had on this planet.

Just sayin.
