I am saying that the movie would have been good enough based completely on historical fact, it doesnt need any dramatisation...
I totally agree. I get that it's based on the comic, but the real events make a compelling enough story that it's been repeated over thousands of years, each time ensuring the audience is awed enough to pass it on to the next generation.
I'll never get that about Hollywood. They find a story that's been around forever, and somehow come to the conclusion that it'll "never work" and has to be heavily changed.
I'd love to see a Hollywood movie based on Germanicus' campaigns across the Rhine (Figure start it with Arminius' betrayal of the Romans at Teutoberg, then flash forward a few years), but I'm certain Hollywood would completely botch it.
