Screen Freeze / Crash from Video Settings

If you adjust your video settings, always leave the AH program all together or you will experience a crash with the computer.  In some cases right after I select the new settings the screen freezes.  The fix:  I use windows key to leave the frozen screen.  Then right click on the minimized AH program and close it.  A few seconds later it tells me the program is not responding, then I click "end program".  Works for me everytime, but I will post it on the Bug forum to see if anyone else has this problem.

We would like to hear what settings were being changed and how long the game froze before it returned to regular operation.  Also, what video card the freezes/crashes are occuring on.  It would also be helpful to know the graphic settings in-game.  The work-around posted about should not be necessary and if this is happening it should be considered a bug.

Hello Sudz,

I have  nVidia GeForce 6600 XP SP2

I adjusted the video settings to widescreen, regular, and then custom.  It froze on each attempt.  At least I waited @ 2 minutes, the first time it happened.

I had been having this problem before, sometimes getting a white screen when adjusting other things like refresh and resolution.  This time it returned to the Logo.  When I told another player about the widescreen settings and warned him of my problem, he confirmed that he too had a screen freeze.  So, I thought that I would post here.

Edit:  Sorry, I read the post again and from memory, game settings are currently set at the largest resolution, 128 texture, hardware box checked and custom screen 110 (as stated above, freeze occurred in regular as well as widescreen) refresh is either unlimited or 60.

On another note my heart goes out to the residents of Gavelston, I have lost my home (to fire) before and viewing the damage can be heart breaking.  It was at that time that the community came to our families immediate needs.  When a whole community is in need. The larger community is needed.  I was not surprised to hear that WT666 (Birds of Prey) rolled up his sleeves and rolled a crew in to help take care of a squadee's house.  WT666 and Diver8, we love ya ma...an  <Salute>
