squelch public readio freq?
« on: January 17, 2000, 02:54:00 PM »
Is it possible to turn off the public readio frequency?  I've set all my readio channels so than none is set to "1", but I still see all the public traffic.

With more and more newbies, the readio buffer is getting pretty clogged with "how do I start the engine".    Lot's of time, I am just stooging around and glad to answer, but when I'm "serious", or flying with a wingie, I'd like to minimize the clutter.

I second Popeye's request for a channel 1 squelch, if not already available.  Its very easy to lose important messages with rapidly scrolling public conversations.

Although I agree with the 2 of you, entering a # in all channels would Kill channel 1-would it not?  I think channel 5 is weird......or maybe it is me!  I have never used it except once.....and was booted instantly!  Certainly some intel results from Channel 1 as well.  But let me say this.  I wouldn't miss it....if it were squelched.  I think the SYSTEM messages only broadcast on 1.  Just a guess.  I can hang with it either way!

Two or more text buffers would be even better - public on the left, squadron/wingie on the right.
