Anti-Tank Mines
« on: September 26, 2008, 09:13:06 AM »
It seems to me that adding Anti-Tanks mines would add an entire new dimension to the ground game.

This was a common weapon deployed in the war using half-tracks.   So why not give both half-tracks an option of carrying Anti-tanks mines?   They could then drop them just like they do vehicle supplies.   Just allow them to disappear into the ground unseen after a brief delay and become armed.   Then let them stay active for at least an hour in the game.   Maybe even two hours.

It would add a whole new dimension to defending against GV attacks.  And it would recreate yet another aspect of the real war.

Would it be that hard to implement?   No new GV's would be needed.   And the programming used for dropping vehicle supplies could be modified for laying the mines.

And then we have a bunch of collectors playing the game because it has metal detectors...

No thanks. Wouldn't work right now.

I think it would work, it could be implemented into the map itself, with some coding and about 8-12 months of work, it could happen, not what I would like to see, but it would add something to the ground guys.

Geez, why not build minefields into the maps at the spawn points, and have them move randomly like when a GV spawns randomly within the spawn point.

wouldn't be hard. An M3 can only hold 5, 251, 5, Jeep, 2. If there is more than lets say.... 25-50 in a 1 mile radius, then, the extras just go away. you cant put them on a field lets say, in front of a vehicle hangar, they just disappear, but you can put them by a map room. BUT, troops stepping on it wont do anything.  :aok

Yup, lets add anything that will promote less GV battles where people actually have to maneuver.  Imagine the whining from the spawn camping crowd as they lose kills to land mines!!!

Doesn't have to be... that would just upset and give an unfair disadvantage to the GV'ers. Like i said before, it could be implemented into the map. HT and the rest of the team could choose where they want to put the mines. Either for AvA battles, or randomly in MA arenas. I love to see it, but I doubt it will be here for the next year or so.
