Lone Star Flight Museum is basically destroyed
« on: September 29, 2008, 08:41:52 AM »
Well this sucks. I was supposed to get married there. :( They took 6-8 feet of water inside. No flood insurance.

Quote
First the bad news: All the aircraft that remained behind sustained some degree of damage. The restored Jeeps and other vehicles were under water. The Texas Aviation Hall of Fame, devoted to the contributions of Texas aviators and business pioneers, was wiped out. The gift shop is gone. Much of the metal siding is peeled up or off.

The only things that survived unscathed were most of the flying examples. They fled. Several, including a flyable AT-11, were still heavily damaged in the storm.

John Cowart, who's interviewed in this video, is one of my car meet buddies.  To say they are devastated doesn't even begin to describe how they feel.  It's hard to watch that video.  Very hard.
