cast iron airplane bank...
« on: September 30, 2008, 11:17:28 AM »
i have never heard of them till now.....

yesturday my friend "guppy" dont ask, was a nickname we gave him in school. anyways, he brought over this cast iron airplane bank that says "racing ace" on it. its cool bank but i have never seen one before or even heard of them, he knew that it was cast iron and said he contemplated taking it to the scrap yard or giving it to me. but he knew my love for airplanes so he decided to give it to me. i googled it and discovered this thing is worth 60.00 as far as i could find so far. he now wants it back but i wont let him lol.

im thinkin the plane kinda looks like a jug ;)

The plane is loosely modeled after the GB racer, hence the racing on the box. Nice bank BTW.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

$60?  I found 5 banks for auction, including the Racing Ace, with a reserve of $25 and it got no bid.

Like most banks, it makes risky mortgage loans.

actually if u look just behind the plane in the pic u'll see a little lever thingy, u pull the plane back till it clicks, then u put coins in front of it and release the lever and the plane shoots the coin into the "finish" slot in front of the plane. kids had a blast with it last night :)
