squad scoring question
« on: October 01, 2008, 10:39:59 AM »
Not that it matters a big deal but I have a question on the inner workings of squad fighter score.  For those of us who like to ponder stats.

If you take this last months squad fighter score as an example Jokers Jokers are ranked number 1 but have total points of 528

Swampdragons are rank 4   with total points  817

My squad The Few are ranked 59    with total points 489

The unforgiven are ranked 19   with total points   307

The only explanation I can come up with is that the kill points have a bigger weighting on rank which is unique amongst all other scores.  Or something is porked against guys with  "The"  in their name  :huh

Edit:   my explanation doesnt fit either because we have more kill points than  Jokers.   even more puzzling

Please dont reply if you havent got any useful comments on an answer.

It still calculates K/D, K/S, K/H and KH% into the overall ranking just like it does for individual ranks, except cumulatively for a squad.

That's why my little 2 man squad is almost always in the top 15.  We don't win the points but there's no one to really drag down my individual stats.  Same thing with Snailman's (invalid) one man squad.

Here's the top 3 fighter squads last camp:

Jokers Jokers
Kills per Death + 1    -    1.22    -    128
Kills per Sortie    -    0.81    -    126
Kills per Hour of Flight    -    6.08    -    85
Kills Hit Percentage    -    5.24    -    158
Kill Points    -    186978.44    -    31
Total of Rankings    -        -    528

III/JG26 9th ST WidowMakers
Kills per Death + 1    -    1.4    -    110
Kills per Sortie    -    0.92    -    99
Kills per Hour of Flight    -    4.93    -    145
Kills Hit Percentage    -    4.79    -    208
Kill Points    -    107323    -    86
Total of Rankings    -        -    648

Aces & 8s
Kills per Death + 1    -    1.15    -    152
Kills per Sortie    -    0.68    -    180
Kills per Hour of Flight    -    4.5    -    198
Kills Hit Percentage    -    5.19    -    160
Kill Points    -    258008.82    -    11
Total of Rankings    -        -    701

It totals the category rankings just like it does for individual pilots.

by that logic then baldeagl how do we have a rank of   59 when our indivadual stats are better and lower than say  Jokers?

I've gone back a couple of months and its the same thing.

The Few
Kills per Death + 1    -    1.70  -    87
Kills per Sortie            -    0.99  -    91
Kills per Hour of Flight    -    5.54  -   109
Kills Hit Percentage    -    5.11  -   180
Kill Points                    -   215643.36     -   22

Total   489  points

Good question.  I just checked and actually have you lower at 468 and ranked 57th IIRC.  Jokers are now 533 but still ranked 1st.  There must have been an update since we both looked at this this morning but it seems like it's broken.  I'd post in the bug reports.

They use a different scoring system for the Brits.
Kinda like Miles verse kilometer's. Kilometer's are always higher as you know.

I'm terrible with math so you will have to use an American to European scoring system converter to figure out your true rank.

If you don't have one yet,  check ebay or simply have it downloaded to your phone  :aok

 :lol  TOOL

I shoulda guessed it was some dodgy conversion.   Just think it was odd because somehow we number one in GV's when we suck in them and our strength in flying fighters and killing people seemed to be way off.  Especially since the numbers add up to be better in comparison.  :huh

I'd really be interested in why that is.

I've checked it out myself and your right, your squad should have ranked much higher according to the #'s
