MA
« on: September 22, 2008, 09:17:10 AM »
I've been playing for about a month now. I belong to a Squad (The HAZE 100th) and we participate in the FSO's every week, but I don't get to see them much outside of the FSO. I normally play on the midwar server, where another squad allows me to tag along with them and share their vox channel... unfortunately I live in Okinawa, and the time difference can be rough. Tonight I logged onto midwar 4 times and I was either alone, or there was one enemy player online.

When this happens, I usually drop by the MA - but it feels so lonely. Nobody seems to communicate outside of the local vox. I'd like to find a squad that is active during non-peak hours (3am-noon EST) that wouldn't mind having me along for the ride. I like to play as a team, and I'm just not feeling that in late war at the moment.

Thanks,
Tim

I know that Raw Prawns is an Aussie time zone squad that might be willing to take you on. Flying Kitchen Utensils is a smaller Aussie time zone squad, I know Spatula and at least one other person fly under that tag, but I'm not sure if they are recruiting. You might want to look him up. I'm not sure how active these squads are, and I don't know any others. But best of luck.

My squad is from both New Zealand and Australia (about 50-50). We're a small squad and a close-nit bunch of people, and some are personal friends knowing each other outside the game. I don't usually actively recruit people, but I normally wont turn down a good person if one arises who suits.

We're not a hugely active squad, we just get on as we can, and have a squad night once per week.

We normally fly in the LW Main arenas, mostly because as you've mentioned there's normally less than 10 people in the other arenas.

You're welcome to tag along on a squad night (Tues 8pm Aussie Eastern time) if you want. PM if you want to know more.

Spatula,

Thanks for the invite to tag along with your squad. You must be the trainer who offers off-peak training sessions (can't verify that, the link to the schedule is returning 404 not found at the moment) I keep trying to get home by 4pm local to attend some of your training sessions but it's just too hard to make it. My wife works night shift and leaves for work at 5pm. When I do manage to make it home from work in time I usually have to wait for my wife to head out the door before I can play.

I look forward to seeing you online and learning from you. As I've said, I've been playing for a month so I have the basics down. I can be a valuable member of the team in nearly every role but fighter. I need a lot of training on my merge, and learning to trim my plane.

Thanks again,
Tim

Vic is a great pilot, and an excellent team player.  It has been wonderful having you on the FSO team Vic.  It is a shame you cant meet up with us on squad nights.  Maybe if you come stateside that will change.  Best of luck to you.  Until then see you on Fridays.

Vic, we fly in MW a lot, so come on by and seek us out.
BTW, what are you doing in Oki?  I used to be stationed there.

Thanks BooBird. "Great pilot" is quite an overstatement, but I do fancy myself as a team player who's willing to take on just about any role to support the team. I love flying with the HAZE during FSO's, but I won't return stateside until late 2009 / early 2010.

My wife is stationed here. I separated from the Air Force at Osan AB in Korea and moved here to be with her. I work as a DoD contractor for the Marine Corp here on Okinawa.
