VF-27 Hellcat
« on: October 01, 2008, 11:35:37 AM »
This is the F6F-3 of Lt Richard Stambook of VF-27. Prior to joining VF-27 he flew SBDs with VS-3 and F4Fs with VF-3 and VF-6. He claimed the last of his 10 kills six days before his carrier the USS Princeton was sunk by a lone Judy dive bomber.

There's a little bit of stretching across the extreme front of the cowling, which prevents me getting the mouth exactly right, but its pretty close.

The skin is up at http://www.ah-skins.com/ if you want to take a closer look.

Thanks guys. I'm not planning on doing any more tri-colour F6Fs at the moment. In most cases it would be pretty much the same skin with a different squadron number, as there was not a lot of personal or squadron variation allowed by the USN. Maybe if an AH squad wants a squad skin. Also I think I'm getting close to the number of F6F slots I can reasonably take up and there's other schemes I want to do more.
