hitech said it required huge amounts of alpha-blending to render the planes with glasses to get it working in on-line play, and said they didn't think it was worth the frame hit it made.

But certainly, I hope to see it when the technical difficulties are solved in the near future  :)

I would like to comment here about a game i played with GLASSES Graphics added in. The game if called B17e Flying Fotress. It had the glass rendered and also dirt and such on the glasses itself. My word, Half the people who got the game went onto the internet and got the PATCH to remove the glass from the copit. I think even IF glassess is added people will still want the old system. So basically the who system of find out how to do it, also added in with bugs are just not worth the work.

Reflections? That would be a realistic add on. I wonder what the FPS hit would be though to implement somethign like that.

But oil and dirt?  Oil if the engine or line were hit surely. But several ("western front" mind you) pilots I've talked to, or read comments from, said thier plane crews kept the planes in tip top shape. The planes themselves were cleaned, waxed and the canopies also polished constantly. I even saw a few comment on IL2's "feature" and they said thier canopies were never that bad.

Maybe just do this for the VVS and LW planes?  ;)

Although Earl himself (ex WW2 pilot who played AW and we're trying to drag in here) said his windshield was never as clean as the ones in IL2 are  :)

Earls cockpit? Of course not. It always had peanut butter finger prints all over it.  :)

I miss Earl. Hope he's well.
