The latest MA map...
« on: April 01, 2001, 06:39:00 AM »
I still hate this map. After playing on it for a month I have come to the conclusion that it would be acceptable if there were not SO many fields, or if they were further apart. Now, that we have 6 calls available, it is very hard to catch enemies unawares, and worse it is really easy to run home. Especially, if you never come out to play in the first place! There are exceptions, of course, but not many.
I'm not the first person to say it. A lot of the fun has gone.

Aye, but for once, Voss has a point there.

I enjoy getting a kill from an enemy that is aware of my intentions than blindly hitting him.

Agree Rip, If I settle on the 6 of a con and there is no reaction to my presence I'll fire a few over the cons head to see if he's awake, Although due to occasional bad aim he explodes.   It ruins the whole feeling of acomplishment.

Bravado. Pure, bravado.

I posted this as an indication of how the new map and six calls have affected gameplay.

I for one , think this map is one HELL of a lot more fun "for me" than the last one .

I really didn't like the last one or the furballs it seemed to make . I for one really liked the one Santa said he liked ?? The one with A1 in the middle and lots of v fields . Course we didn't have ships then .

Sorry Voss , but I waited a month to have some more fun , most of the time I spent training our new air guys in the TA . It had this map in there too

Airspro, I think you didn't read my post the way I intended. I like the current map (islands) and NOT the last one.

Last map has a serious unballancing aspect for the country living in the South corner. Besides that, made the navy pretty much useless. I think I like more this one, altho I councur I miss the mountains and canyons.

Cheers,

Pepe

I absolutely hate the island map.

It only promotes fleet flak hugging and massive chog waves.

The ONLY thing good about islands is the furball island where non-strat players can lurk.

Well, Tac, I disagree. Used properly the fleet can be a great advantage, you just have to be thinking in those terms. I like this map, because it provides more potential for strategic engagements. Still, you will see the off-map raids, because it almost guarantees success. Lazy punks, I tell ya!

"Used properly the fleet"

And what does that mean exactly? Get the fleet near the field, cover it in flak so no defending fighter can ever hope to B&Z and launch chog waves. Heck, its extremely effective! Hispano monsters killing tanks at will, 1 ping killing any plane in the air and fleet flak so the chogs dont ever find themselves at a disadvantage.

IMO, if fleets stayed HALF a sector away from land (aka, flak would never cover field) and the almighty hispano didnt have magical properties... well, why waste breath, the higher up dont care.

Off-map raids do suck, and thats partly due because of all these lame gameplay concessions. 30k buffs that outperform fighters with turbolaser AND omniscient radar. *shrug*

Maybe it is a good map, but perhaps all the lame stuff in AH shine in it. Who knows.
