Spit VIII Vs. A6m2 or A6m5 Help
« on: September 06, 2008, 07:27:28 PM »
When I have the chance to dive and run away or have E advantage, I can usually beat a Zeke with out any problems or hassles in a spit 8. But lets say your E is spent and your already low and slow and a Zeke attacks you, from above or same alt. How do you avoid getting blown out in a turn fight and live?

just about anything caught low and slow is zeke food. Stick stir till you can extend.

if a zeke attacks you from above, then do the same maneuver as i mentioned in the other thread. he'll have so much speed, that he still shouldn't be able to turn inside you for the shot, while you're hopeing to cause him to overshoot you.

the spit8 can outrun the zekes(as can almost anything in here), but i think the zeke can out aaccelerate the spit8. this makes it harder for you to extend, but with WEP, you still can. if he's out past 300 yards, and tossing rounds at ya, make small gentle unpredictable moves. if you make hard moves, you bleed speed, and he gets closer. zekes guns hurt most at 300 and less. if you make hard turns, you also give him a larger profile to shoot at. NEVER go verticle. by this, i mean, do not try to loop and think you're gonna get away, as you'll (again) bleed what speed you have, and the zeke will have you in his sights as you're about to stall. that is one of the absolute easiest shots there is.

that's about all i can think of.

The Spitfire VIII accelerates virtually the same as the Spit16... From 150 to 250, it'll run away from just about everything. Thus, it will check out from a Zero very quickly (Zeros accelerate very slowly).

When bounced from above, always put your nose on the attacker. If the Zero pilot is dumb enough to challenge a pair of Hispanos head on, so be it. This is the only way you can go from totally defensive to offensive when bounced by a Zero with E and alt advantage. Go head to head. If he bears off, unload and accelerate on a heading opposite the Zero's. Get some separation and re-engage having negated the Zero's advantage.

Better yet is not to be low and slow in the first place.

Better yet is not to be low and slow in the first place.

Why not?   You realize how many fools have dove on me in a "low and slow" Ki-61 only to have:

1.)  Misjudged my E status because they are in a "Late War Uber Craft?
2.)  Cannot out turn me or stay on my 6, because they cannot handle "unpredictability"?
3.)  Overshoot me because they blew their wad faster than a virgin in a potatohouse?
4.)  I watch them flat turn and bleed more E/any hopes of "regaining any advantage they might have had previous"?
5.)  End up in the Tower.   About 3 times of 10 I'm called a "hack".  "Because there is no way in hell I can do what I just did and do all of the time."   Chalk up another 4 times of 10 being "I totally misjudged your Ki-61".    The remaining 3 are probably trying to "think about what they did wrong."

I'll never understand why folks pay money to not work for kills.   Anyone can grab a 51D, D9, Typhoon, Tempest, G-14 or K-4 and cherry pick.   It is not difficult to do at all.

I enjoy embarrassing them in a "POS" Ki-61 II that is misjudged in here by a bunch of sheep.   It makes my fun better and a touch easier.

1.)  Misjudged my E status because they are in a "Late War Uber Craft?i don't fly uber planes, but still make this mistake from time to time
2.)  Cannot out turn me or stay on my 6, because they cannot handle "unpredictability"?  most people ars somewhat unpredictable, so i don't understand this one?
3.)  Overshoot me because they blew their wad faster than a virgin in a potatohouse?i used to overshoot all the time.....now i just go back up and hope for a better shot.....
4.)  I watch them flat turn and bleed more E/any hopes of "regaining any advantage they might have had previous"?i learned better than to do this too. if i'm kinda fast, and feelt he need to turn, i'll go up, losing speed in the turn, then come back down regaining it.

funny you mention that. i jast had dragon40 calling me a cheat tonight, because i hit his lancs from 4.5 in the field gun at a v-base.

If you're caught low n slow by a zeke, get ready for that warm cup of tower coffee.
