Force Feedback support

Few Days ago I asked HT about future planning of AH. I don't know where to find info about what is being developed, improved, added,etc...
I asked this because I want to know if Force Feedback is going to be supported soon. I realy miss it and it adds significant degree of realism to the game IMO. Is it possible to have FFB in the next version? If not, which version will support FB and when is it going to be released?

TIA,
Bean

Yeah, I have one of those darn "I can't have a throttle controler or rudder pedals cause I thought FF would be neat" joysticks as well    I used to fly brand W with it and by the time I quit I had turned off all of the forces but the the stall buffet and ground roll.  I found that the gun recoil bounced my aim off too much.  I know this is realistic, and I would love it if everybody had it, but not just me.  I did like the way I could turn of the stall horn and feel the plane depart though.

Yeah, lets have Force Feedback. My Force FX feels limp and I'm blaiming it for my abysmal performance .

FFB has been done for WB - for chrissakes guys you wrote the darn thing! Can we please-please have it in AH?

Thank you

Agreed.  The lack of FF is about the ONLY thing I can think of at the moment (with the possible exception of prop drag) that WB has and AH desperately lacks.

I smell 1.03s feature list building itself.    (I think we do have prop drag, but it's very small.)

I miss FFB too. I wont interfere in the way priorities are "on the list" (as HiTech use to call it when he is online I am afraid that implementing FFB is not done in a couple of days. Building a good FFB "engine" shouldent be a problem for these coders, but making an FFB scheme and proper responses for each and every plane uuuurgh what an amount of work.
But I would like to know:
Will FFB ever be implemented?
It could be a possible no here. Because in some ways it seems that FFB is a feature with a promising future behind it. The only full HOTAS-set available with FFB is CH, its very expensive, and I am not even sure that they make it anymore.
Is FFB high or low on the list?
I ask because its relevant when you are considering which joystick to go for in the future.

Warbirds has the best FF implementation of any simulation.  I can tell the speed of the plane by measuring the stiffnes of the controls.
It was very hard to get used to diving in AH because the controls don't get physically stiffer and the engine doesn't scream at higher speeds.
In Warbirds I know when I am about to pull my wings off;  In Aces High I have to study the spedometer.
We need FF but also engine sounds that change with respect to speed.

I would like to have force feedback soon too. Would like to have it as soon as possible. An FF stick is a pain in the arse in a non FF supported game.

Hey wmutt, hoffman pedals work with MSFF sticks, got a pair at my feet right now.

Heya gang.

I too am a FF devotee.

For a WWII sim I find it almost a must, though with many modern jet sims that simulate fly-by-wire aircraft it is just a pain since it is either has too much or too little resistance.  That's when to use a good stand by stick.

I have SIMPED-vario pedals that work with my MS Sidewinder FF Pro.  Actually I just published a review of them on Dogfighter.com for those that might be interested.

Another thing to bear in mind: while CH Products no longer makes a FF stick, Logitech does, and it's USB.  That means you can still use your analogue controllers (pedals and a throttle, for instance) plugged into a gameport for games that support DirectX 6 or higher and allow multiple controllers.  Before you ask, yes Aces High does allow this.     The magic ingredients are Win98 or greater, a motherboard that has a USB port, and a game that supports multiple controllers.

For those that simply must have the Force Feedback Pro, fear not!  I just got back from Microsoft where I got a good look at what's planned for the fall, and that includes a Force Feedback Pro 2 which will have USB connectivity.  Alternatively, you can keep the old FF Pro and get USB pedals and Suncom's USB throttle slated for this summer.

For now, though, I have used the SIMPED-vario pedals with a Suncom SFS Throttle and the Logitech Wingman Force (USB) in Aces High and it is a real treat -- it is great fun to push forward on a big beefy (dual!) throttle, too bad there is no FF. This HOTAS setup would work with FF if HTC would provide the support.

The only reason I don't keep it hooked up all the time is that for WB and other games that don't support multiple controllers it becomes problematic -- if AH gets FF support soon then I will likely just keep it plugged in!

Cheers,
phaetn
