The Westboro Baptist Church protests are not against the war, they are equating the deaths of American soldiers with God's hate of America due to rampant homosexuality. IE. your son died in Iraq because God hates America. God hates America because of all the gays here.
It's all shock tactics. Got them attention, didn't it. Yes, they are wack jobs. But you could say they are wack jobs because of the vehement protest opposition to homosexuality. It's really nothing to do with the military, Iraq, or the soldiers.
