Hardware Bundles...
« on: August 21, 2009, 07:06:22 PM »
In Kindergarden, I was the kid that was always stacking the blocks, LOL!!! Been wanting to build my own computer, since I found out they are kinda like Hotrods!!!  Follow the formula, pick your parts carefully, make sure everything matches up well... Then carefull and detailed assy... Sounds like an very familiar story to me..

Been wavering between a cheap 1st build, as a dry run... Or just goin for the whole 9yds I7-950 deal... I don't really want to waste time and money on a PC that will be outdated before it was even assembled... LOL!!! But leery of spending 2k on hardware, and really screwin it up...  This bundle looks like a good compromise for me.. A better than average Mobo and vid card, good features for beginner overclocking, and plenty of OC/ability too!!  And it looks like a good price!!  Need a computer that I can experiment with, without using my game machine... I've learned as much as I can by reading about it, now I need to get my hands dirty!!!

Bundle:
Tigerdirect #B69-4013  $249.99.... It consists of:
Asus P5N72-T Premium mobo... (780i SLI)
EVGA 9800GTX #512-P3-N781-TR.... (standard card, no OC)

Just wondering what you guys think, before I drop the cash on it!!!
Thoughts? Alternatives?

Thanks for any answers,  :salute

Not a bad deal in the least, and a very nice Mobo and GPU. I use a 780i and a 8800GT myself which is fairly similar and works great.

If you really want the top of the top though I'd go with a 790i and 200GTX Series.

If you're going to practice tweaking the voltages, timings, and clock settings, that's a great deal. I wouldn't bother with the GTX200 series if you're building this for testing purposes.

Oh yes, I plan on checkin out all the OC features... A little at a time, untill I fully grasp the relationships between the different settings... The auto OC will really help there, allow me to see how the stepups configure the bios to work together... Kinda hard to learn that without actually doing it, and seeing it on
CPU-Z... Eventually, I'll be messin with all of it, LOL!!!  This mobo seems to be memory versatile too, thats good!  An E8500 would go pretty good in this combo, I think.... Lots of possibilities!!!
