fight worth the 13 minute flight
« on: May 29, 2009, 06:01:34 PM »
Here is film from a great fight I had last night.

I flew for 13 minutes looking for a fight last night. I took off from one airfield and flew around there for a while thinking that a few cons were on their way, turned out they were flying away. At that point I turned to a vehicle base that had a con on the dar, turned out he was a suicide dweeb and died attempting to take out the radar there (not sure how that happens at a vehicle base but ehh). Now I am starting to feel a little disappointed I fly to the field next to the one that I took off out of since there seems to be a few cons there and I am starting to get a little low on fuel. Unfortunately they dissipate rather quickly, but on the map I notice 3 cons coming on the edge of the dar ring. The first is a little ahead of the rest, so I turn to intercept the first one in hoping for a quick kill so that I don't get picked off by the following enemies.

Things turned out much better than I could have ever hoped for. It was a P51D with a pilot that gave a good merge and was not afraid to mix it up, even if at first seemed as though he was going to run away. The fight ends up on the deck and still he refuses to run away. Trading position several times with no interference from anyone outside the 1vs1 that we had going on made the fight even better, the fight lasted 4 minutes and left me on the edge of my seat for a few minutes.

This is one of the fights that I am the most proud of and I feel that it offer some entertainment to some of the those here as well as maybe offer something for some of the newer players to learn from too.

Finally, I would like to say "Tongs what you did with that pony was awesome and it was great to see someone take that thing and mix it up on the deck in a way that is rarely seen in the MA's"  :salute :salute :salute :salute :salute

enjoy folks

edit: I forgot to mention that the film does not show it but there was a collision in the end that takes off (if I remember correctly) and elevator causing my demise.

BTW I spared you the first 13 minutes of the film and offered up only the fight itself.

I should try and post a fight against Fuzeman's squad a couple of years ago.   It was initially a 3 vs 1, but fuzeman withdrew and then it was 10 minutes of picking parts of planes OTD.   I lost the fight, but had to log because I was drained.   Those fights to me, are rare and satisfying.

I still <<S>> MILT to this day when he's on/lands kills.  But then again, The Specialists have always been friends.

<S> to both you ya for that one.

I'm the worst pilot ingame ya know!!!

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

 :salute ace pilot.
This is just one of the few good fights with you.I had hoped you thought I might be a runner to try and use to my advantage...unfortunately or should I say fortunately you were prepared for it as it turned out to be a nice fight. As you said at the time of our C202 V P40E fight( which was yet another long rolling/turning/twisting battle), it would have been nice to see how it would have turned out if my friendlies hadn't been around. I unfortunately didn't get film (or should say I didn't name it so it is filed as Film xxxx) I will find it one day. It's a pleasure to run into you in the MA.

You also Gwurzel.

sandwich,

There might have been a few snapshots I could have taken in there but I tend to not take those too often, especially when up against someone trying to give me a good fight. I would rather lose a great fight than win a fight on a lucky snapshot. Just the way I am,though I do appreciate your commentbut that is the reason you see a few missed opportunities.

Thanks wurzel it was a blast. Since I posted this film I have found out just how much fun it is to fight Tongs as he mentioned there have been a few since then that were equally as fun.

Hopefully Tongs we get to have one soon where one of us gets to shoot the other down and not be taken out by friendlies or picked by the ground :D.always a good fight with you Tongs. :salute

That was truely epic. I never see a 51 flown so slow and evasively in a real dog fight like that. Though Floatsup knows how to stir some stick while bugging. I have never wasted so much ammo trying to kill some one just flat line running with a bit of stir lol.

I was inspired to fly the 51 like that after fighting the likes of uptown, oldemon, skatr....there's another couple, but mainly the first 2. They could/can get on my six when I was in the Tony with ease and stay there while rolling, and twisting...I found these guys harder to fight in a 51 than some in spits and hurris and the like. After a while I decided that I wanted to do that...(the shock factor alone that a 51 is turning with you is an advantage).  Oh yes another was AKDG.  So I watch the films and jumped in and got started... It is a really fun plane, with so much more than how the majority use it.

Just like in your 39 greziz, try fight apercot...that guy is really quite good in it and watch..He is why I decided to try the P40..I still don't use the B model yet....but soon.

51's flying on the deck is a shock and in this fight it left me in the "what the hell is going on" for the first few seconds. I actually turned away a little waiting for the lazy BnZ's to start and was trying to set myself to reverse and try to get him that way. I in no way expected nor set myself up to fight such a on the deck low and slow fight.

I really wish more people would take the time to learn how to fly that thing like that. This is one of the top fights I have ever had in about 3 years of playing.

BTW I think you are more than ready to take on the P40B and anytime you want to try a few 1vs1's in P40's you let me know. I am no expert but I love to fly the thing (especially the B) and can be at least a confidence booster.
