Erwin Rommel
Robert E. Lee
George Patton
Claire L. Chennault
Gauis Julius Caesar
Ernst Udet
Manfred von Richthofen
Erich Topp
Alexander the Great
Adolf Galland


In no order. I left plenty off the list that should be on it but these are more 'my favorites' than who is the best. Though I feel each person on the list was one of the greatest in their fields - whether it be tactical skill, leadership, morale boosting..etc

BG David Grange (may not have heard of him but I would have charged hell with a bucket of water for him)
Gen Patton
Gen Chesty Puller
Gen Erwin Rommel
Gen Yamamoto (cannot spell his first name)

BG Grange commanded the 1st Infantry Division in 1999 and had the audacity to tell then president Clinton the truth that we were not prepared to fight a war, being a police force fine, but a war, no.  Took guts to do that and they canned him for it.  <S> BG Grange, best Divisional Commander I have ever seen (a long the lines of Gen Gary Luck for those who served under him).

his ship, the Victory was so badly damaged it had to be towed back to England, just saying.

on topic, by what criteria do you judge a top leader?

He's gotta mean the character portrayed by Olmos, but for that matter Eddy could almost be listed IRL too.

I should have swapped out someone from my list for Nelson.
Anyway, then I'd have needed more slots, for I also forgot Yamamoto.......
