One note about realism and the Mossie.  If you look at photos of pilots sitting in the Mossie and then compare our default view you can see that the view over the nose in reality was much better than the default in AH.

I have sat in a mossie, i think AH has it pretty much perfect with the head position moved forward.  The canopy is right in your face IRL, the default cockpit view is necessary for the instruments i think.

You can raise the seat up in the 38 for a good view and still use the real gunsite for aiming.

You don't want to raise the seat up all the way.  You just want to raise the seat enough that the bore sight is just on the top edge of the gunsight reflector.  This way the bore sight will be at eye level and will make it easier to hit those deflection shots on the P-38.  Raising the seat so that the bore sight is no longer visible is not a good idea but YMMV.

F4U (not for the view but because of the gunsite), P38, and the Mossie.

Most of the twin engine birds will give you the best view over the nose.

twin engined planes in general, including the me262 even if it hard to tell where you bullets will go....me163 is out of league, F6F/hurri are alright, but I don't know why the F4U is even mentioned, you can't see the cv you are landing on as an example, whatever the version.

I honestly don't see why some consider the over the nose view on the P-38 to be one of the better ones.  In default view, it's terrible and only improves by raising the seat.
