Carriers are meant to be sunk.
It may have been 1.5 sectors from an enemy base but which direction was it headed?  Not to attack I bet.
It was taken away with the intent of avoiding a fight. At the very least avoiding having it NIT and attacking your bases.

You have position where you use it effectivly don't ya think? They were moving it so they could fight the ship better. CV's aren't meant to be right offshore
Theyll only give you one chance, Better get it right first time. And the game youre playing
If you lose you gotta pay, If you make just one wrong move Youll get blown away

Perhaps if there was a requirement that you actually must BE on a CV to control it and not AFK for more than 5 min might be a possible solution... just a thought.

Excellent idea.

CV SKULLDUGGERY

CV164 was being used by me and squadmates to take a base, A65. We used 8" guns on town, and had one plane up to take down remaining buildings. We kept shelling town to get buildings that pop, while a squadmate's goon upped from a nearby base for the capture. All going as planned until another BISH decided to show up and take the CV. "She" pointed the CV away from A65, thereby not allowing us to use main 8" guns anymore, and whats worse, goon was in A65 dar ring,  ready to get into town but in need of escorts.

So, we hurriedly upped from CV164 and escorted goon to town for take. And take we did.

I pleaded for her, prior to A65 capture, to let go of CV164 so that our squad can continue using it. Of course, I get the usual ignore. It makes me believe she just wanted to be a jerk about it. So she kept CV164, and here I am posting about her skullduggery.

I've been in falcnwng's, thndreggs missions, and theyre great, fun people. Apparently, theres always a jerk in one great squad that doesnt mean well for its countrymates/bishes, and in this particular situation, wishing that our squad would fail in taking A65.
