Are we gona be able to load an M16. M3 or a flak into one of these??

And if so are the guns on them gonna work or are they gonna be disabled until we offload?

I'm looking forward to throwing am M3 and my tackle box onto a Landing craft and beaching a few miles from ASSassin headquarters.  That way we can get in...steal the beer and get out

skernsk,

We are geting LVTs, Landing Vehicle Tracked.  They have tracks and are mobile on ground and water.

I don't know if they could carry M-3s or M-16s, but I somehow doubt it.

Heh...shows how much I knowe about Landing craft karnak

I remember seeing pics of vehicles rolling out of landing craft on the beaches of Dieppe.  Would be a nice way to bring vehicles into waterworld.

It would be nice to launch landing crafts from fleet. These should carry goons and vehicles.

M3's and M-16's weight around 9 tons, about 2/3's the operational weight of an LVT(A)2, and about half of a LVT(A)4. Besides that they can't fit inside the compartment on the A2, to long

I hope they do LCM's eventually, but I really really really hope they include some LCI's and LCS (armored close support gun boats...Large and small caliber flak, mortars, 4.6 rockets and things of that nature) soon to cover the LVT's

I've got an idea (alert the media!). I think HTC should create another fleet type, the amphibious assault fleet.  The AAF would have a destroyer screen, a cruiser (for gunfire support), and instead of a carrier it would have a troop transport.  The troop transport would be a mobile VH able to spawn LVT's.  The AAF would be player controlled just as the CVBG is, and you would sail it to a point off the coast and spawn LVT's from it to assault the beach.

That actually was mentioned in an old news update back in October.

.....Work has been underway on 1.05. Nate's F6F and Superfly's TBM are coming along nicely and we'll be starting on the ships soon. We want the naval aspect to be more than just a carrier cruising around the terrain. There are a lot of elements we're looking to include in this system for 1.05 and beyond. Player-controlled task forces, player-controlled anti-aircraft and shore bombardment batteries, supply ship convoys, PT boats, LVTs, PT boat and  seaplane tenders, shipyards, etc. These additions will create a dynamic target-rich environment that will open up new aspects of gameplay. We'll talk more about what to expect in 1.05 and how it will work as it comes together.....

Hans.

S!

Sounds interesting if these landing fleets are introduced. But then we would need a different map than Island/Lake.
Otoh what this can cause...CV and landing fleet less than 3 miles off shore, skies swarmed with C-Hogs and protective uber-flak umbrella.
So..why not restrict the distance how close the CV can come shores and let only the landing fleet get closer?Or will it too have this FCC guided flak?
Oh well..had to rant I really hope these new additions bring up a more cooperative AH.Today it is more or less a gaggle of enemy trying to get a field. If repelled, then there's the CV parked off shore and horrendous amount of C-Hogs instantly swarming They must have an AC factory onboard the CV to replenish the lost planes...Waiting with interest.

By the way, I'm wondering, will one of the two LVT types we're getting be the one with the 37-mm gun turret (LVT(4) had this armament on one variation I saw)?  Also saw a picture of an LVT(4) variant off-loading a Willy Jeep, which is about the largest vehicle it could fit from the look of things.
