CPU Usage
« on: November 07, 2008, 06:54:44 PM »
I installed a start up program to limit the amount of processess when running the game.  The program is Alacritypc.  It did a great job of getting my processes down to 21, but my cpu usage is now around 50%.  No other applications running except the game and Alacritypc.

Any ideas on how to get the cpu usage down, or what might be causing it?

Well with game running it should be very high, close to 100% I'd assume, because AH used alot of  resources.
Dual core or anything like that?

with the game running it will run 100% of your CPU, assuming you have a duo-core, its 50% each one. To test it, stop the game, and see what it is, it will most likely be at the "pulse" around 1-2%

It is a duel core, and I do run around 1 - 4 % at idle with no applications running.  In game I only show around 50% not a 100%.

1 to 4% is pretty high when the computer is idle, with no applications loaded.  Should be at 0%, and bouncing to 1% (occasionally 2%) at very regular intervals.

Something I noticed with usage.

With each USB item I plug in, such as my CH Stick, Throttle and Pedals, the usage goes up. It stabilizes at a constant 4 with those three items plugged in. Which I think might be expected because of the constant information being sent via the ports.

I do get the 0~1% (more 0 than 1) without my flight controls plugged in.

Unless there is input from the devices, there should be no activity on the USB bus to cause the CPU to have to babysit on it.

My full stick set is connected all the time, and the CPU usage is just as I said it should be.
